Congratulations to Chrysta Castañeda, who has been named to the 2025 Texas Super Lawyers list for her work in energy and natural resources law.
This is Castañeda’s eighth year on Super Lawyers, which selects honorees through a rigorous multi-step process that includes peer nominations and independent research. The recognition is limited to no more than 5% of Texas lawyers.
In addition to her Super Lawyers recognition, Castañeda has been regularly recognized by The Best Lawyers in America and D Magazine’s Best Lawyers in Dallas. And, in 2020, the Texas Bar Foundation inducted her as a Fellow, an honor reserved for a small group of State Bar of Texas members with outstanding professional achievements and a demonstrated dedication to improving the Texas justice system.
Additionally, the prestigious Chambers Spotlight and Best Law Firms have also recognized The Castañeda Firm as a whole for its work in energy law.
Castañeda has been a go-to lawyer for high-stakes oil and gas litigation for more than 25 years, building up an impressive slate of wins for her clients. In 2016, her $146 million win for T. Boone Pickens’ Mesa Petroleum Partners was named the 12th largest verdict in the nation by The National Law Journal and entered into Texas Lawyer‘s Texas Verdicts Hall of Fame.
Castañeda is also an author, speaker, and community leader on a broad range of energy-related and litigation topics. She frequently appears on local and national television and radio programs to discuss Texas energy issues. In 2020, she was the Democratic nominee for a seat on the Texas Railroad Commission, which oversees Texas’ oil and gas industry.
